Dental implants are made from strong bio-compatible, medical-grade titanium which is securely anchored into your jaw-bone and acts as a replacement for the root of the missing natural tooth/teeth. A dental crown (artificial tooth) is then attached to the top of the implant, restoring your smile and chewing function.
Where there is a single missing tooth, Dr Awad can restore function and aesthetic by placing a single dental implant.
If you have multiple missing teeth, Dr Awad can utilise implant-supported bridges to replace them.
An implant-supported bridge is similar to a regular bridge, but it is supported by dental implants on either end. When multiple implants are required, they can be placed during the same appointment.
If all your teeth (upper and/or lower) are missing, a beautiful and functional smile can be achieved by way of a full arch reconstruction, which you may have heard referred to as 'all-on-4' or 'all-on-6' . Full arch reconstruction uses either 4 or 6 dental implants (depending on your case) to support a whole arch of permanent, natural looking porcelain or acrylic teeth.
Many people don't realise that dental implants can also be used to stabilise a denture. An over-denture is a removable compete denture that is attached to fixed dental implants(usually 2 implants are required). The over-denture is designed with special attachment allowing them to snap on and off the implants for daily cleaning and while sleeping. Over-denture being supported by both gum tissue and dental implants, distributes the force load during biting more evenly than a traditional denture improving function, and helping to reduce shrinkage of the jaw bone. Over-dentures are cost effective tooth replacement option which can be upgraded to one of the previously mentioned dental implant options should you desire it in the future.
